Davies Selected in Australian U/17’s Side

Local junior Ollie Davies has gained selection in the Australian U/17’s side on the back of leading NSW Metro to the title at the recent National Championships.

Ollie captained the side with distinction as they completed a comprehensive 141 run win in the final against a strong QLD squad. Winning the toss and batting, Ollie set the tone for NSW with an emphatic 58 from just 46 balls to set up a total of 6/272 from their 50 overs. In response, QLD were never in the hunt, stuttering to 131 to cap off a memorable tournament for the young Waratah.

Ollie finished the carnival with an impressive 273 runs at an average of 43.3 and strike rate of 107.9. On the back of this, Ollie gained selection in the Australian U/17’s side which will represent the Cricket Australia XI at this summer’s Under 19 National Championships, to be played in Tasmania in December.

Cricket Australia National Talent Manager and National Selection Panel member Greg Chappell singled out Ollie amongst others for the high quality of cricket that had been played across the carnival. “The most pleasing feature of this year’s Under 17 National Championships has been the quality of the batting, which I think has been as good as it has been for some time,” Chappell said.

We’re proud to have Ollie representing the Waratahs with such pride, and can’t wait to see him thrive over the coming seasons!

Congratulations Ollie!
