Club legend and well known turtle catcher Jamie Sullivan knows how to play Grade Cricket, both on and off the field. So what are his thoughts on life? How does he play this great game? Well, Sully intends to tell you
Pre Season Hype
Here we are again pre season, you walk past the mirror and get a glimpse of the reflection and think 'sh*t, I had better go for a run' (for about 3 days straight) to lose the winter coat. That is of course unless you are a Tim Cruickshank where it’s nearly impossible to walk past a mirror without having a second look (that lasts at least 20 minutes, giving yourself a blue steel).
The first session is always exciting - catching up with old mates, discussing what’s been happening during the off season, usually it’s the same response “not much mate, just having fun and enjoying my weekends off”. Then there are the people you see, and after speaking with them for 1 minute (Flat), you realise how much of a pest they are and just hope you don’t have to play too many games with them.... I really do love you mate. Funnily enough we all keep turning up, simply because we all have something in common, WE LOVE IT.
There have been a few new players come over the last couple of years.Starting with Crossy, our new leader, it did not take long for Crossy to fit in and his g@y tendencies to come out in true Manly style, ( I love playing with you guys - the cricket's not bad either). Speaking of g@y tendencies and regulars, rumour has it that Scotty and Lance are off to The States at Christmas, maybe a shock visit to Vegas could be on the cards?? I say good on you boys...
I would just like to mention and congratulate one of our newest recruits, who made his debut for not only Manly last year, but his country this year in England, Steven O’Keefe (Sok). This is a great achievement, it also might help him with the ladies a bit more, simply because he really struggled beforehand.
In summary, lets all enjoy this season, work together, have fun and play some good cricket. I look forward to having a beer with everyone throughout the season.
