The Manly Warringah Junior Cricket Association (MWJCA) offers junior cricket in a variety of forms to over 1,000 players aged 7 to 17, as part of organised competitions on Saturday mornings on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
In addition, the Rep committee, a sub-committee of the MWJCA, organises two teams in each age group, from Under 11s to Under 16s, to compete in two different representative cricket competitions stretching across the Sydney metropolitan area, including Newcastle, Central Coast, Wollongong and, in some ages, the ACT.
Competition matches are all day Sunday games, with teams playing between 5-6 games plus semis and finals.
In total, nearly 150 boys are expected to play for Manly Warringah in rep competitions during 2010/11 season.
In addition to playing, teams train weekly from September until Christmas and in many cases through until February. In 2009/11 we moved training for all rep teams to the NSW Sports Academy at Narrabeen. Moving to these professional facilities was a great step forward in terms of uniting all teams at the one location and giving a real sense of club spirit to all those boys playing rep cricket for Manly Warringah juniors.
