Mitch Cleary

Full Name
Mitchell John Cleary

Date of Birth
21/1/86

Junior Club?
Forest/St Pius

Years at Manly?
9

Years on the Circuit?
I'd like to say 7 years but who really knows???

Top Score at Manly, and who against?
135* against Parramatta in 1st grade

Person at Manly you would most like to get a lift to Campbelltown with?
Luke Edgell, Matt Mee and Sam Alexander because the conversation between those three would have me in stitches and it would be a privilege to witness the rareness that these amazing humans possess.

Person at Manly you would least like to get a lift to Campbelltown with?
Luke Edgell, Matt Mee and Sam Alexander because i would end up jumping out of the car half way while it was still moving. It is a very long trip out to Campbelltown and it would end up doing my head in having to listen to the dribble that these amazing humans possess.

Nickname and why?
Beaver, let's just say it's from the movie 'leave it to beaver'

Are you positive that is why you are nicknamed Beaver?
No, it's always good to leave a bit of mystery though. I'm sure everyone has there own story on it.

Funniest thing you have ever seen on the cricket field?
There has been some good ones but the one that takes it for me is one game in second grade when Manly legend Ben King was skipper and he got so frustrated at our performance that he tried the tear his white floppy hat in half which he failed to do, so then he tried to eat it and rip it in half with his teeth and then when he realise he couldn't destroy that stupid hat, he hurled it to the ground in disgust and trampled it. I think the only person who wasn't laughing at the time was Kingy.

Best cricketer you have played with?
Winga/Stuart Clark for Manly or Dave Warner/Uzzy Khawaja.

Favourite Circuit?
I am not a fussy person, it's all spectacular.

Favourite Circuiter?
Anyone and everyone has something great to offer but I must say Bossy holds a special place in this category. When you circuit with this individual, anything can and normally does happen, i'll leave it at that.

Who of the young brigade do you think has the most talent at Manly, both on and off the field? I know you are a big Taylor Beattie fan....
Massive Taylor Beattie fan! Was even thinking about starting up a fan club for the great man but i don't want things to get too weird between us. There are about 8-10 young blokes coming through at the moment that have the talent to go as far as they want......and I do mean on and off the field.

You are one half of the famous Cleary brothers, who do you think got the looks and who got the brains?
I think this one is pretty obvious to be honest. Shane was adopted (he thinks by a Greek God) and definitely not from our stable so who knows what he got therefore I got both looks and brains.

Who will take out the Sam Alexander award for the loosest person at the club this season?
I'm going to throw a smokey out there and say Nick Watkins. This man has shown tremendous form in this category the first half of the year and with a even stronger back half I think he can beat the favourites Mee, Edgell, Munting and Alexander.

If you could trade places with anyone at Manly, past or present, who would it be and why?
Probably Aidan Baker because I just want to experience for myself what it is like to be truly happy and in love with the girl of your dreams like he is with Sal.

How would you go about impressing the girl of your dreams?
Go to a nice restaurant or even an intimate picnic on the water at sunset, follow that up with some scintillating conversation while going for a stroll under the stars & full moon and then cap it off by going for a late night canoe ride to somewhere secluded for some quite time and a nice bottle of red. I know what you're thinking and yes.....yes I am single and ready to mingle.

Your old man Steve still has a great head of hair, and frequents Frankies on Belgrave for his monthly snip. Any signs of baldness from yourself?
Considering the history of the heads of hair in my family I am surprisingly safe in this area, in fact I can probably lend some to my brother and old man if they ever decide they need it.
