PG's - Manly 7/339 def Gordon 199
Shane Cleary: is that scoreboard right ? Yep !.
PG's had a dominant win over Gordon yesterday at Manly oval. Capt'n Mitch Cleary got the day started off as he typically does this time with a quickfire 30 and a run rate at 6 an over. What was to follow was an outstanding partnership from Marcus Hainsworth (114) and Luke Edgell (108). Both batted with power, determination and placement to notch up their first tons for the club. The run rate never dropped below 6 an over and the boundary wall took a battering. Luckily no passing pedestrians, cars or seagulls were hit. Special mention to Michael Lindsay for his superman dive on the hill alas coming up just short.
All good things come to an end and with Marcus departing Peter Lindsay was called upon to scare a few tennis players. Court Number 6 was ducking for cover as Pete scored a terrific 40. Luke kept piling on the runs and the day ended with 339 on the board.
It was never if but when. The fielding and bowling was keen and the wickets fell regularly. Jackson Bird was very sharp for his 3/46 and Pat Darwen 2/41 changed the game when Gordon was looking settled. A very nice knock from P Rasool (110) gave Gordon a total, but all out for 199. The win and a bonus point takes Manly up to 3rd on the table with the next game vs Campbelltown at Raby on Jan 7.
