The Manly Warringah District Cricket Club is delighted to be a part of Good Sports and have become the 1000th Club to support the program.
Our Patron and NSW Treasurer Mike Baird was kind enough to give up his time to accept the 1000th plaque on the Club’s behalf from Good Sports.
In recent years, Manly has embarked on a youth program which provides a pathway for young cricketers into high levels of cricket in the Manly Warringah area. In doing so, we assist them with their personal development and welfare. We have taken a stand against drugs and alcohol and see the Good Sports program as a great partner in this quest to educate our young players and provide the support they need in these vulnerable years.
The Good Sports program is an initiative of the Australian Drug Foundation (ADF) to develop safer and healthier communities. The program helps sporting clubs manage alcohol responsibly and reduce alcohol related problems such as binge and underage drinking.
Good Sports is recognised in the community health sector for its extensive research. The program is evidence-based and evaluation continues on an on-going basis.
